David Woo, physiotherapist at Strive Sports and Health

Meet David

David Woo is a physiotherapist who works with athletes across combat sports, team sports and general strength training.

He grew up playing basketball, Oztag and football, which gave him an early appreciation for what sport demands of the body. He completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra and has spent many years training Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which shapes how he treats grapplers.

He knows what a hard roll does to a neck, a knee or a shoulder, and what an athlete actually needs to get back on the mats. David has worked with both international and national level jiu-jitsu competitors, and works regularly matside at grappling competitions including Subversion, Grappling Industries and the Wollongong Open.

His approach combines hands-on treatment with sport-specific rehabilitation. The aim is to find what caused the injury, not just settle the symptoms, so athletes can keep training rather than cycling in and out of the clinic.

David has completed further training in advanced dry needling, Certified Mulligan Practitioner, Kinetic Link Training Level 3, chronic and nerve pain management, and combat sports rehabilitation through the Ethos Performance Programme.

Outside the clinic, David enjoys spending time with his wife, day trips to new places around Canberra, hiking, movies, video games and training jiu-jitsu.
